SPINEA
This town is located at the far end of the decumanus, towards Mestre, and has a lot of trade and production. Today, Spinea has an oasis of peace – the Nuove Gemme park – where you can walk, and which also has a protected natural area. Its position, at the crossroads between the Altinate and Patavino centuriazione (a Roman division of agricultural land) whose angles formed a sort of ‘herringbone’ (spina di pesce in Italian)- probably gave its name to the town, which has several districts. There are still many villas from the time of the Venetian republic: Villa Lanza Rossignano, Villa Marcon, Villa Simion, Villa Bellati and others that are less well preserved.
