The River of the Windmills

A resurgent river which originates in the western Friuli plain, east of Casarsa. . Its crystalline waters reach Portogruaro, where the river is crossed by the unique bridge of Sant’Andrea and we find two 1400s windmills, the symbol of Portogruaro and of Concordia Sagittaria. Then the river takes on a more serpentine trajectory before joining the Caorle Lagoon. Navigable from Portogruaro to Caorle.
