POLESELLA

Polesella is also linked to the history of the Venetian Republic and the Este family. The stretch of the Po River at Polesella was the site of the famous naval battle between the Republic of Venice and the Duchy of Ferrara that took place on 22nd December 1509. Later, the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia and the Papal State also marked the history of this area of Polesine.
